This commercial presence may be a registered branch or a wholly owned subsidiary concerned with the same type of business activity as the parent company. The parent company must have no branch, subsidiary or other representative in the UK.

Converting to Permanent Residenship
After a period of five years in UK as a Sole Representative of an Overseas Business, one can apply for permanent residentship. While fulling all the requirements for the extension of stay, one also needs to show that they have spent a period of five years in UK, and not left the country for more than 180 days in the said duration of five years. One has to show that they have remained the Representative of an Overseas Business for the said five years.
