Canada Visitor Visa/Super

What is Canada Visitor Visa/Super Visa

The Canadian government introduced Super Visas in 2011 to manage the backlog of applications received from visitors who wanted longer stays in Canada. Valid for up to 10 years, the Super Visa is granted to qualified parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Unlike the regular visitor's visa that allows someone to remain in Canada for only six months, the Super Visa allows a stay of up to two years with an option to apply for an extension.

Who is eligible for Canada Visitor Visa/Super Visa

Super visa is a long term Canadian Visitor visa which allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to visit and stay for long duration. Normal Visitor Visa is valid for a maximum of 6 months stay in Canada whereas Super Visa allows for a stay up to two years at a time without needing to renew their status. Visitors who travel to Canada by air are required to apply for an electronic travel authorization (eTA), even if they have successfully applied for a super visa.
