Canada allows citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their spouses or common-law partner or dependent child. Who is eligible To sponser

One can sponsor their spouse/common-law partner/conjugal partner/dependent child if:
• Sponsor is at least 18 years old.
• Sponsor is a Canadian Citizen/Permanent Resident of Canada.
• Sponsor is a Canadian citizen living outside Canada, and plans to live in Canada when the persons they want to sponsor become permanent residents in Canada.
• Sponsor can provide for the basic needs i.e. food, medical, shelter and other needs for everyday living of the persons they want to sponsor.

Length Of Undertaking

Length of undertaking is 3 years from the day your spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner becomes a permanent resident.

Length of undertaking is 3 years from the day your dependent child (or the dependent child of your spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner) over 22 years of age becomes a permanent resident.

Length of undertaking is 10 years from the day your dependent child (or the dependent child of your spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner) under 22 years of age becomes a permanent resident, or until the child becomes 22 years old, whichever comes first.
