What is Sub class 491 (Skilled Work Regional Provisional Visa)

Subclass 491 or Skilled Work Regional is a point tested visa which is especially for those skilled workers who wish to live and work in a regional area of Australia. Also, with this visa you are sponsored by an Australian State or Territory Government or an eligible family member residing in a designated regional area of Australia.

Who is eligible for Sub class 491

• Candidate needs to be nominated from region or a relative.
• Candidate needs to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI)
• Candidates needs to produce a medical certificate that certifies that they are in good health.
• Candidate age should be under 45 years.
• Candidates needs to prove that they have a clean background and no criminal record. A police verification certificate is needed to prove this.

Subclass 491 Visa or Skilled Work Regional Provisional Visa is valid for 5years. There is no extension given to the Skilled Regional visa. But if candidate wishes to permanently settle in Australia after 3rd year, they can apply for PR visa by fulfilling all the necessary conditions.
